News and Blog of the World DanceSport Games Kaohsiung 2013
Live from Kaohsiung, TPE
The WDSF Communications team has arrived in the host city of the World DanceSport Games 2013. Over the next few days the members will be busy to prepare for the production of the coverage that will come out of the event between 16 and 20 September. In a nutshell this coverage will consist of 14 hours of live and "false" live television programming, a similar number of hours as live webcasts through YouTube, and huge quantities of videos and photos to go up here and on the WDSG and WDSF facebook pages. An unprecedented amount of coverage that will almost require you to take a vacation next week to follow it all. Kaohsiung is getting ready too!
Final Countdown
The final countdown to the WDSF World DanceSport Games 2013 in Kaohsiung, TPE, is on. Two weeks to go! The Games' inaugural edition gets underway on Monday 16 September and extends through Friday 20 September.
Starting Lists
The starting lists for all but one of the disciplines contested during the inaugural edition of the World DanceSport Games in Kaohsiung, TPE, are now online. Taike Dance - which is the host city's homegrown discipline - is the sole exception. The starting lists read like a "Who's Who" for each of the other 13 medal events. Perennial champions, young champions, virtually all couples who have made themselves a name in DanceSport competition will be in Kaohsiung to take a shot at a title that gets awarded for the first time. Check out the starting lists for the WDSG 2013!
Final Push
The Kaohsiung Organising Committee is stepping up its efforts to promote the World DanceSport Games 2013 around the host city and the country. Two weeks prior to the first day of competition, colourful banners announcing the games to the residents have gone up along the streets of Kaohsiung. Another major World DanceSport Games press conference is scheduled for Thursday 5 September. This one will take place in Taiwan's capital Taipei.
Boogie Woogie
Here is an excerpt of the Fast Final of the 2013 WRRC Boogie Woogie World Championship that was held in Stuttgart, GER, on 17 August. Norwegians Thorbjorn URSKOG and Susanne SANDBERG were declared World Champions. They and the other finalists will be in Kaohsiung in just over two weeks!
From Japan | No Mob - But Good Start
In their rehearsal of the "Stamp Your Feet" routine, the members of the Japanese Cheerleading National Team get off to a rocking start - before the ranks start thinning out considerably. When the routine gets performed during the upcoming WDSF World DanceSport Games in Kaohsiung, the opposite is supposed to happen: more and more people are to join in the sequence of steps and other moves. Project "Do Your Dance in Kaohsiung" is about thousands - or tens of thousands - of dancers stamping their feet flash mob-style on 20 September.
