Taike Dance
We won't hold it against you if you should draw a blank upon hearing someone talk about "Taike Dance." In a nutshell: Taike is the most locally indigenuous of all dance styles performed here as part of the World DanceSport Games 2013 Kaohsiung. It was invented and performed in this city for the first time during the Opening Ceremony of The World Games (i.e. the IWGA World Games that feature DanceSport alongside 30+ other sports) back in 2009.
Since then it has set out on a global conquest. It was performed at the Endigburgh arts festival 'Fringe' in Scotland and at several other events around the world. It is a very innovative temple fair dance that involves the 'seven-star' steps that were traditionally danced by Taoist deity sedan-chair carriers during religious festivals and are accompanied by loud traditional temple tunes and neon lights.Immediately following the Formation Latin Final you'll get an even clearer picture of Taike Dance.

Up Next: Cheerleading
Cheerleading is the next event that premieres here at the World DanceSport Games. 7 cheerlading squads from 7 different countries will contest the title of Champions at the K-Arena. Cheerleading? Competition?
Originally it was a mere support activity - as in cheering for football teams - and it shows its roots in the sideline cheer part of the competition. But from there it goes on to demonstrate cheerleading as a genuine sport with a demanding set of skills of its own.The LIVE webcast of the first round of Cheerleading will be embedded here soon.
